Marjorie Hunzelman

The faithful and loving spirit of Marjorie Hunzelman, age 83, of Marshalltown, departed this earthly life on the morning of Monday, April 1st, 2019, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, IA, with family at her side.           Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 5th, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Herschberger officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery in State Center. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Ph. 641-844-1234.           Born Marjorie Ann Morgan on November 5th, 1935, in Marshalltown, she was one of three children born to Donald C. and Della M. (Dawson) Morgan. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1953.           Following high school, she was employed at Lennox Industries as a switchboard operator. Here she met a handsome young man by the name of Vernon Hunzelman who was soon to travel for Lennox as the voice of “Lennie Lennox.” The couple was united in marriage on November 25th, 1956, at St. John Lutheran at State Center.           Mrs. Hunzelman retired from Welp-Harrison-Brennecke and Moore Law Office. She was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran and enjoyed keeping a spotless home, playing cards and dominoes, baking and sewing, and keeping her faith deeply a part of her life. Her family was most precious to her.           Left to cherish her memory are Vernon, her loving husband of 62 years; four children and their families- Judi (Joe) Nixon of Brentwood, TN with Leah Nixon Willis (Jared) and Steve Nixon; Jana (Dave) Rogers of Urbandale with Allison (Jon) Vial with Graham and Jack; and Emily Lang (Kristopher Rollins) with Ruby; John (Darla) Hunzelman of Ankeny with Cpl. J.J. Hunzelman, USMC and Joey; and Joel (Amy) Hunzelman of Waverly with Mollie and Beckett; her brother Jim (Adele) Morgan of Pewaukee, WI; and many other family and friends.           In death, Marjorie rejoined her parents and brother, Don.
