Marjorie L. Johnson, 81, of Marshalltown, died January 27, 2009, at Bickford Cottage while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Greg Boyle officiating. Inurnment will be at LeGrand Friends Cemetery at a later date. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been caring for Marjorie and her family. Ph 641-844-1234. Marjorie was born on August 22, 1927, the third child of Leo and Carrie (Feight) Moser of Humeston. She graduated from Fernald High School in 1945, receiving honorable mention in Iowa High School Girls Basketball. After graduating from AIB in Des Moines, Marjorie worked in Oakland, California, in telecommunications during WWII. After the war, she worked for the State Highway Commission in Ames until her marriage to Maynard Johnson on January 23, 1949, at the Nevada Methodist Church.Marjorie enjoyed helping her husband of 60 years raise Black Angus cattle, family tree scrapbooking, gardening, and establishing an Iowa award winning windbreak. She was a member of the LeGrand Friends Church. Survivors include her husband, Maynard; her son, Dr. Glenn (Vivien) Johnson of Bemidji, MN; her daughter, Molly (Russell) Allen of Sheffield; her six grandchildren; and her two sisters, Helen (Loy) Black of Nevada, and Doris (Dean) Olson of Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Merle Moser, and her sister, Mildred Lange.
