Marjorie Louise Martelli

Marjorie Louise Martelli, 79, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Grandview Heights Rehab and Healthcare while surrounded by her loving and caring family, and husband of sixty-two years. Visitation for Marjorie will be held from 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2012, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with burial to follow. Memorial contributions may be directed in Marjories name to her family. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Marjorie and her family.Marjorie was born February 12, 1933, in Camp Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Margaret Bice. Their family lived in Camp Dodge and Boone, Iowa for a short time before moving to Wyoming and later settling in Des Moines, Iowa. Marjorie was united in marriage to Jess Martelli in 1949 and to this union seven children were born. Following their marriage, they made their home in Marshalltown and have lived in the community for nearly fifty years.Throughout her lifetime Marjorie stayed home to raise their children and care for her family. Marjorie loved reading her bible, attending church, stitching and knitting and especially raising flowers in her yard. She spent many days playing bingo with her husband Jess at the Senior Citizens Center in Marshalltown. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and will be dearly missed by all.Marjorie is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Jess Martelli, her children: Richard (Carla) Martelli of Arkansas, Jessie Martelli of Gilman, Iowa, Vicky (Joe) Plesek of Chelsea, Pamela (Terry) Spading of Tama, Patty (Vester) Rawlens of Missouri, Jo Jo(Hilary) Martelli of Arkansas and Steven (Denise) Martelli of Des Moines, her fourteen grandchildren and her numerous, loving, great-grandchildren, her siblings: Clyde, Charles, Agnes,Helenand Fern, and several nieces and nephews.Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Margaret at birth, her daughter-in-law Connie and her siblings.
