Marjorie “Marj” L. Ross, 89, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2023 at the Iowa River Hospice Home.

Born Marjorie LaVerne Arment on September 8, 1933 in Kensington, KS, she was the daughter of Glenn Oliver and Lola Lula (Vibber) Arment. At three years old, the family moved to Marshalltown, IA and she has since called it home. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1951.


She married the love of her life, Donald “Don” Ross Sr., the couple on December 23, 1951 at First Friends Parsonage. Marj was a dedicated wife and mother and worked hard to take care of her family. When her kids were grown, she began working with Don at Rinehart moving and storage.


Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 71 years, Don; her three children: Lyn (Phil) Pickett of Marshalltown, Don Ross Jr. of Grinnell and Pam (Mel) Brown of Marshalltown; her grandchildren: PJ (Shannon) Pickett of Melbourne, Greg Pickett of Baxter, Cody Pickett (Keisha Henry) of Carlisle, Angela (Wyatt) Manship of Marshalltown and Missy (Robby) Rettig of Marshalltown; great-grandchildren: ShayeLyn Pickett (Ben White), Xander Pickett and Madison Pickett, all of Melbourne, Lilyan Pickett and James Pickett of Baxter, Maleah Pickett of Grinnell, Treyce Henry and Kashtyn Henry of Carlisle, Camille Pickett of Wisconsin, and Kohl Manship, Paige Manship, Ryker Rettig and Stella Rettig of Marshalltown; great-great-grandchildren: Adam Pickett and Phillip King-Pickett, both of Melbourne; and her siblings: Bonita (James) Zimmerman of Missouri, Marion Arment of Marshalltown and Robert Arment of Oklahoma.


Marj is preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Prusha; her parents, Glenn and Lola Arment; two sisters and three brothers.
