Marjorie Runner

Marjorie Runner, 98, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away December 22, 2022 at the Willows of Marshalltown and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

A celebration of life for Marjorie will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Marjorie Louise Woodworth was born on January 9, 1924 to parents Donald and Jennie (Johnson) Woodworth in Marshalltown, Iowa. She grew up in Marshalltown, graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1942.

On March 4, 1944, she was united in marriage to Delmar L. Runner in San Marcos, Texas. They briefly resided in Texas before returning to Marshalltown where they began their family. Together they raised their children, Joyce and James. Marjorie was employed by the Bell Telephone Company as an operator. She was a homemaker and housewife and also worked in the print shop at Lennox. In her free time, Marjorie enjoyed many crafting projects which included making corn husk dolls, and working on sewing projects which included making clothing for her family.

She is survived by her children, James Runner and Joyce (Steve) Salasek; grandchildren, Tracy (Troy) Hutcheson, Jeff (Anne) Salasek, and Nick (Lindsey) Salasek; great-grandchildren, Ava, Gabe, Cash, Elaina, and Barrett; and two nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Delmar; twin infant daughters, Bonnie and Connie; parents, Donald and Jennie Woodworth; daughter-in-law, Linda Runner; sister and brother-in law Helen and Laverne Landon; and one nephew.
