Marlene May Langbehn died November 24, 2018 at Westbrook Acres, Gladbrook, IA. Marlene was born on May 30, 1932 at Marshalltown, the daughter of Lloyd and Edith (Richards) Zink.She was married on October 15, 1949 at Marshalltown to John D. Langbehn. John died in 1997 and Marlene was married on April 9, 2003 at Pharr, TX to Marlow Appelwick. Marlow died in 2015. Marlene and John lived in Vienna Township on the Chuck Knight’s farm until moving into Green Mountain to her grandfather’s house in the 1980’s. Marlene worked for many years at Marshalltown Manufacturing as a calibrator. Marlene was also a charter member of Marshall County Antique Power Association, and she was also a past President and longtime member of the National Strong Family Association. Marlene loved to travel. She took a train trip and many bus trips around the US, cruises to the Caribbean and Hawaii, and spent many winters in Pharr, Texas. After her marriage to Marlow she spent her summers at Orr, MN. She spent the last 4 years at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook. Her family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to Westbrook Acres for their loving care. Marlene is survived by two sons: John W. of Wilsonville, OR, Keith of Green Mountain, and two daughters Nancy (Roger) Gardner of Gladbrook, and Judy (Mark) Fennema of Tomahawk, WI; 3 step-sons: Steven Appelwick, Michel Appelwick and Scott Appelwick and a step-daughter: Lori (David) Leinbach; 5 grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her two husbands, parents, a brother Nerle and two sisters Dena Joan, and Sharon (Clarence) Mann. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home form 5-7:00 p.m. with a graveside service held on Saturday, December 1, at Green Mountain Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at a later date once a fund has been established.
