Marlene Needs

Marlene Needs, age 69, of Laurel, Iowa, passed away on the morning of October 23,2021 surrounded by her loving family at the Iowa River Hospice Home. At this time cremation rites have been accorded and no formal services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either CIRSI or the family for a later designation. Marlene Lois Minor was born March 16 1952 to parents Orval and Elsie (Kallem) Minor in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She grew up attending school in Marshalltown and later went to Marshalltown Community College and obtained her Associates of Arts degree and her nursing license. For many years, her genuine and caregiving attitude poured out through her actions as she cared for others as an LPN at various nursing homes and in home health care settings. Outside of her work life, she supported and raised her five sons. In her free time, Marlene enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, loving and spending time with her grandkids and her family, going to garage sales, crafting, and scrolling through facebook. She was known by her family to be very strong, independent and supportive of everyone. She is survived by her five sons, Brent (Trisha) Williams, Kirk (Kristy) Williams, Jim Williams, Bob Needs and Steven Needs; her grandchildren, Tanner, Aaron, and Lane Williams, Taija Rodriguez, Levi, Kenna, Austin, and Jenna Williams, Victoria Kooima, Chase Needs, Isaac White, Adrian Needs and Jocelyn Needs; her 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister LeAnn Stevens; alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Orval and Elsie Minor and her sister Karen Franklin.
