Marlin "Tubby" D. Olson, 73, of Marshalltown, died Monday, February 4, 2008, at the Iowa Veterans Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest in the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to the service time on Tuesday at the Veterans Home Chapel. For condolences, please visit www.mitchelfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Marlin and his family. Born on April 29, 1934, in Lake Mills, IA, he was the son of Oscar and Laura (Lund) Olson. He proudly served our country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Marlin enjoyed fishing and farming, as well as dogs and horses. He helped found the Korean Monument at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Marlin was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Tammy Parshall; grandchildren: Garrick, Christopher, Trevor and Ryan Parshall; siblings: Ardis Copeman, JoAnn Brusse, Janice Lyons, and Jerry Nelson; and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his mother, Laura, father, Oscar, brothers: Orville and Arden, and sister, Nancy Nelson.
