Marlow Appelwick, 83, of Gladbrook passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, Iowa while under the care of Hospice Compassus. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday September 23, 2015, at Green Mountain Cemetery in Green Mountain, Iowa. Visitation will be from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Marlow Sanford Appelwick was born at home in Osakis, Minnesota; he was the son of Monard Appelwick and Salma (Thompto) Appelwick. Marlow attended school in the Osakis Community School District. On July 2, 1951, Marlow was united in marriage to Sarah LuAnne Anderson in Osakis, Minnesota, they later divorced. In 2003, after meeting Marlene in Texas they were married and continued to winter there, returning to Minnesota and Iowa during the summer months. Marlow had worked and retired from Gateway Foods as a Sr. Driver after 31 years of reliable and faithful service. He enjoyed dancing, polkas, schottises, waltzes, hunting, fishing, boating, pool and the outdoors in general. Left to cherish Marlows memory is his wife, Marlene Langbehn of Gladbrook, Iowa, children, Steven(Charlene) Appelwick of Bass Lake, Minnesota, Micheal(Debra) Appelwick of Biwabik, Minnesota, Scott(Ed) Appelwick of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Lori(Gary) Rutar of Bucyk, Minnesota, grandchildren Shawn, Tara, San, Eric, Aaron, Meagan, Ian, Mellissa, Sarah, great-grandchildren, Isabel, Lydia, Hunter, Kyler, Marlenes Children, John Wayne Langbehn of Portland, Oregon, Keith Langbehn of Green Mountain, Iowa, Nancy (Roger) Gardner of Gladbrook, Iowa and Judy (Mark) Fennema of Charlotte, North Carolina, and 5 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren, Marlows siblings, Norma Wark of Springfield, Virginia and Marion(William) Brown. In death Marlow rejoins his parents, Monard and Salma and a brother in infancy.
