Martha Lensing, 69, of Garwin, died early Thursday morning, February 28th, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 3rd, at the Garwin United Methodist Church with Pastor Harry Wach officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Garwin Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown from 5-7:00 p.m. on Sunday. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Martha and her family. Born Martha Patterson on September 4th, 1938, in Des Moines, she was the daughter of Dalton B. and Ellen Mae (Mather) Patterson. She graduated from the LeRoy High School. Martha was united in marriage at the Assumption Church in Cresco to Michael Walsh from August 5th, 1961 to October of 1967. On February 20th, 1970, she married Joseph Lensing at the Little Brown Church and he preceded her in death in August of 1978. She was employed from 1979 to 1990 as an activity director at the Howard County Care Facility in Cresco, from 1990-1996 as an inspector at Northern Engraving in Spring Grove, MN, and moved to Garwin in 1996. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Marie (Stewart) Warren of Garwin, Melinda Tague of Marshalltown, son Michael (Darlene) Walsh of Hokah, MN, her grandchildren Charles Anderson of Toledo, Iowa, Joseph Warren and Amanda Warren of Garwin, Iowa, and Cody Tague of Marshalltown, her siblings: Francis (William) Andrist of Stewartville, MN., Dalton (Beverly) Patterson of LeCrescent, MN, Dorothy (Patrick) Schulte of Caledonia, MN, Jackie (Richard) Bakken of Buffalo, MO, brother-in-law Danny Hungerford of Rushford, MN, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her mother (Nov. 1988), father (May 1992), and sister Patricia Hungerford.
