Martin Dolphin

Martin John Dolphin, 54, of Marshalltown, died Monday, October 29, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial for Marty will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Interment will follow services at Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa. Visitation for Marty will be held from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2012, at St. Henry Catholic Church, with a vigil service at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in his name to either Standup2cancer.org (one hundred percent of donations go to cancer research) or the Iowa River Hospice Home.Marty was born May 27, 1958, the son of Merlin and Rosene (Boffeli) Dolphin at the John McDonald Hospital in Monticello, Iowa. He was raised in Cascade, Iowa, graduating from Aquin High School, a member of the last graduating class in 1976. Marty went on to further his education at Iowa State University graduating in 1981 and then received his Masters of Business Administration from Drake University. Marty was united in marriage to Shirley Hosch on May 1, 1982, at St. Marys Church in Cascade, Iowa. Marty was employed with Emerson Process Management Fisher Controls from 1978 to present day.Marty was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Previously, he was a member of St. Marys Parish, Sherman, Texas and served on the St. Marys school board. He was an avid fan of St. Ambrose Bees Womens basketball, Iowa State sports, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. Marty was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family.Marty is survived by his wife Shirley Dolphin of Marshalltown, his daughters Rachel Dolphin of Des Moines and Ali Dolphin and her fianc Mitch Dunlap of Madison, Wisconsin; his mother, Rosene Dolphin-Trumm, his siblings; Charlene (Greg Krausman) Dolphin of Dubuque, Iowa, Gloria (Greg) Otting of Cascade, Iowa, Duane (Andrea) Dolphin of Ankeny, Iowa, Jim (Sharon) Dolphin of Conrad, Iowa, Lynn (Phil) Knepper of Cascade, Iowa, Loras Dolphin of Denver, Colorado and Rhonda (Mark) McCullough of Peosta, Iowa.Marty was preceded in death by his father Merlin; step-father, LeRoy Trumm; father-in-law Herb Hosch, and mother-in-law Eleanor Hosch and an infant niece Gina Dolphin.
