Martin Vajgrt, Jr.

Martin B. Vajgrt, 61, of Marshalltown, passed away on September 28, 2021 in the peace of his home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Cremation rites have been accorded under the care of the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A family-led celebration of life barbeque will take place on Saturday, October 2 beginning around noon at Joe’s Farm, 2225 W Main Street Rd. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Born Martin Benjamin Vajgrt, Jr. on March 26, 1960 in Marshalltown, he was the son of Martin Sr. and Diane (Barry) Vajgrt. He received his education from Green Mountain Elementary and Miller Junior  High in addition to schools in Mountain Home, Arkansas and Johnston, Iowa. Martin was blessed with three children from his union to Lori (Bolke) Vajgrt. A hardworking and skilled carpenter, he worked several jobs, including MICA, Landen and Landen and was self-employed for many years. In his free time, he loved spending time outdoors: fishing, hunting, gardening and grilling or “burning food” as he would say. He was an avid Vikings and NASCAR fan and also enjoyed woodworking and canning. Martin is survived by his three children: Emily (Lucas) Parmenter, Bradley (Tia) Vajgrt and Blake (Autumn) Vajgrt; the mother of his children, Lori Vajgrt; his mother, Diane Vajgrt; his siblings: Michael Vajgrt, Dietta Villarreal and Matthew Vajgrt; five grandchildren: Libby, Breeann, Lucas, Stella and Elexa and one granddaughter: Kelly. In death, Martin rejoined his father, Martin Sr. and his grandparents.
