Marvin Louis Pille, 86, of Marshalltown passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Grandview Heights Rehab and Health Care in Marshalltown. Funeral services for Marvin will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Oratory in Haverhill. Visitation will be prior to the service; starting at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family who will donate to various Catholic charities that Marvin had selected. Marvin Louis Pille was born on January 13, 1931 on the family farm in rural Haverhill to Joseph Francis and Julia Rose Marie Goodman Pille. He graduated from Laurel High School in 1949. Upon graduation, he entered religious life as a Brother in the Society of Jesus in Florissant, Missouri. Among his missions as a Jesuit, he worked at Rancho San Antonio, a home for boys in Chatsworth, California. After resigning from the Jesuits, he moved on to Lacey, Washington where he worked as a probation officer until he retired and returned to Iowa in 1990. In retirement, he worked occasionally as a bookkeeper at Rapid Transmission. He enjoyed family genealogy and photos, maintaining a detailed family tree. He was a longtime motorcycle enthusiast, having ridden many miles throughout the West and Northwest, as well as Iowa. He enjoyed woodworking, making many things for himself and others. A lifetime Catholic, Marvin was a man of devout faith and prayed daily; well prepared to meet his Lord and Savior. Marvin is survived by his sister, Grace Muggenberg of Sac City, brother, Ray Pille of Marshalltown, sister in law, Sheila Pille of Nebraska and brother in law Wilbur Manor of Perry. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Julia, sisters, Alice Manor and Sr. Dolores Pille O.S.F. and brothers Frank, Vernon, Arthur and Ronald Pille.
