Mary Bannon

Mary Bannon, 93, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday morning, July 5, at the Grandview Heights where she has been loved and cared for nearly 11 years. During this last journey she was assisted by Iowa River Hospice. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Riverside Cemetery. Born on August 15, 1917, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of William and Eva (Williams) Bannon. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School and being devoted to the value of education; put herself through the University of Iowa and later Drake University where she received her teachers certificate. She taught at the Pleasant Hill School in Marshalltown until her retirement. Ms. Bannon was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church, the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC), Marshalltown Community Theatre and the Drake Alumni. Mary was blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins and their families who loved her very much. In Heaven, she rejoined her parents and siblings: Wayne (Homzel) Bannon, Margaret (Artice) Maxwell, Catherine (Frank) Lampkin and Rose (Wilmer) Johnson.
