Mary Rena Daugherty, 73, of Marshalltown, died Monday, January 31, 2012 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Her death came peacefully at 5:05 p.m. with family at her side.Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastors Charles Daugherty and Dustin Brown officiating. Born on September 27, 1938, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of James and Violet (Hale) Robinett. She graduated from the Belle Plaine High Schools Class of 1956. In school, she met the love of her life, John Wilson Daugherty and the two were united in marriage on March 24, 1956 in Bloomfield, Iowa. It was not permissible at the time to be married while you were in school, so the couple kept it a secret until they graduated. Mary was a respiratory therapy aide at the MMSC for 30 years and had also owned the Chicken Inn Restaurant.Mary enjoyed cooking, singing, dressing up at Halloween, and devoted her life to her family. Her family was everything to her and she was always there to support them.Left to cherish her memory are her children and families: Debra and Lloyd Fisher of Marshalltown and children Shane and Tammy Brown, TJ Brown and Rachael, Chip and Ashley Brown, Michelle and Bob and Christopher and Dani, son Jerry Daugherty and wife Deanna of Coralville and their daughters Nina, Erica and Marissa, daughter Pam Wilson and her husband Rick of Garwin and their four children; Jami, R.J., Mary and JJ, ten great-grandchildren; Brad, Kaitlin, Aspen, Brianne, Emma, Ashley, Easton, Raylinn, August, Zalanya and two brother in-in-laws; Robert Daugherty of Ft. Worth, TX, and Charles (Patricia) Daugherty of Cedar Rapids, IA. In death, she rejoined her beloved John who died New Years Day of 2008, her parents, sisters; Dorothy, Irene, Wanda and Barbara and brother Jimmie, sister-in-law Lael and brother-in-law Willis Daugherty.
