Mary Lou Erikson, 82, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formally of Gilman, Iowa passed away on the early morning of Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Unity Point Health Marshalltown. Funeral services for Mary Lou will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Public visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until services begin at 11:00. Memorial contributions may be directed in Mary Lou’s name to her family which will be later designated elsewhere. Mary Lou Harrington was born on January 14, 1936 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Harlan and Helen (Bowen) Harrington. She was raised and educated in the Dunbar School District where she graduated from Dunbar High School with the class of 1953. On February 14, 1954, Mary Lou was united in marriage to the love of her life, Edmund Erikson at the Dunbar Church in Dunbar. From this union the couple was blessed with three children: Erik, Erin and Dan. Mary Lou was a dedicated homemaker, where she helped Edmund with the family farm for many years and also made sure her family was always taken care of. She had a passion for genealogy, cooking, baking, but most importantly was making sure her family was taken care of and loved. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband: Edmund Erikson of Gilman, IA; children: Erik (Deb) Erikson of Winterset, IA, Erin (Mel) Koch of Marshalltown, IA and Dan (Jung Won) Erikson of Isaquah, WA; grandchildren: Lauren, Leah, Payton, Tom and John; sister: Janet Davis of Cedar Rapids, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Helen and one brother-in-law: Wayne Davis.
