Mary Gaunt

Mary Mor Mor Gaunt, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on July 9, 2016, with family by her side. The family will be having a private service. Mary Phyllis Nygard was born on May 14, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa; she was the daughter of Carl and Mary (Greendahl) Nygard. Mary attended East High in Des Moines and graduated with the class of 1947. On November 26, 1951, Mary was united in marriage to Paul Gaunt at Grandview Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Mary and Paul lived in Johnston, Laurel and then moved to Marshalltown in 1993. She was a farmer's wife, homemaker and mother; jobs she dearly loved. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mor Mor was a woman of great faith and her family was very, very important to her. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and they all loved their Mor Mor. Everyone loved her Mor Morcookies and she loved her Iowa Hawkeyes. (Go Hawks!!) Mary loved music, sang in the choir and was a wonderful piano player. Left to cherish Marys memories are her children, Paula (Mark) Rowan of Cody, Wyoming, Jay (Chris) Gaunt of Grinnell, Iowa and Ted (Liz) Gaunt of Zearing, Iowa, 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In death Mary rejoins her parents, Carl and Mary, her dear husband, Paul in (94), brother, Bob Nygard and sister, Verna Rohs.
