Mary Jane Von Krog

Mary Jane Von Krog, 68, of Marshalltown, died early May 23, 2008, at Taylor House in Des Moines.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service time. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the family. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Mary Jane and her family.Mary Jane was born on December 11, 1940, in rural Cooper to William and Claire (Lucht) Hansen. Mary Jane had one sister, Louise Marie Hansen, whom died 6 weeks after birth. She grew up on a farm in rural Cooper was educated in the Cooper area schools, graduating from Cooper High School in 1959. She went to beauty school after graduation. On June 11, 1961, she married Carl Rodrick Von Krog. To this union, two children were born- one daughter, Kinda, and one son, Richard. Carl died on Easter morning, April 15, 2001. Mary Jane was employed at Wal-Mart for more than 17 years, first working in the stationery department and then the electronics department until her retirement. Mary Jane was introduced to Don Edel after moving into town in 2003, where they befriended one another and became companions up until Mary Janes passing. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kinda(Brett)Miller of Indianola, IA and Richard(Angie) Von Krog of Toledo, IA; 4 grandchildren and 5 grandchildren by marriage; 6 great-grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren by marriage, and her companion, Don Edel.
