Mary Schauper Manning, 93, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Villa Del Sol Nursing and Rehab Center, while under the care of Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 24th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Phone 641-844-1234.Mary Elizabeth Schauper was born on April 30, 1918, in McCallsburg, Iowa; she was the daughter of John and Fay (Peck) Schauper. Mary was educated in the area of her birth. On June 1, 1938, she was united in marriage to Dale R. Manning in McCallsburg, Iowa. Dale and Mary lived outside Zearing on a farm until Dale entered in the service where she lived near him while he was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi. Upon returning home, Mary worked at Montgomery-Wards at boththe old and new store and retired from there after 40 years. The Mannings had a lake home at Lake Ponderosa in Montezuma and lived in Conrad for 35 years until moving to Marshalltown to be near family.Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Penny Sue Kriegel (Kim Hartwig), grandson Jared (Kelly) Kriegel, great-grandchildren Connor and Alyssa Kriegel and niece Dorothy Baum of Union, as well as many great-nieces and one great-nephew. In death Mary rejoins her husband Dale, parents, John and Fay, sisters Mildred and Hazel and nephew Bobby Twedt.
