Born Mary Ann Catherine Stalzer on August 25th, 1928, she was the youngest of 12 children born to Anton Tony and Amelia Molly (Holdgrafer) Stalzer. She graduated from St. Josephs Parochial School and then attended St. Marys in Marshalltown before graduating from the Van Cleve High School. On November 24th, 1947, she was united in marriage to Cletus Oetker at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Haverhill. They farmed northwest of Haverhill until retiring to Marshalltown over 25 years ago. Mrs. Oetker also was employed many years as a charge aid at the Marshall County Care Facility. Mary Ann enjoyed playing cards (Pepper with Haverhill rules and 500 at the Embers), the accordion with her niece and brother on the guitar, doing childcare after her retirement from MCCF, bowling and the tournaments she traveled to, listening to western music, square dancing with Clete and attending any family event. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Gary (Vickie) Oetker of Plano, Texas, Linda (Pat) Peakin of Colo, Iowa, Laurie (Rick) Bradley of Wonder Lake, IL., and Jane (Mike) Hulsizer of Haverhill, her son-in-law Warren Humphreys of Albion, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, her brother Tony Jr. Stalzer of Carroll, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family at the Embers. In death, Mary Ann rejoined her beloved Clete, her daughter Rhonda Humphreys who died in February of 2012, her parents whom she dearly loved and three sisters and eight brothers as well as the Oetker side of the family.
