Mary Jeanne Shore

Mary Jeanne Shore, 87, of Marshalltown, passed from this world peacefully on the afternoon of Saturday, April 6, 2013, in the peace of her home and with her family at her side. Her family would like to thank the incredible staff at Glenwood Place and Pam Wells for the care, comfort and love she received while residing there. A special thanks to Abbie Uhde, her CNA, who recently had a slumber party with Jeanne. Also, thanks to Iowa River Hospice and her caregivers Sheryl Foster and Jeni Mohr. All of you made her last journey meaningful.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Ph. 641-844-1234.Born Mary Jeanne Veren on November 17, 1925, in Clemons, Iowa, she was the third of four children born to Harry and Clara (Johnson) Veren. She graduated from the Clemons High Schools Class of 1943 and later attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and AIB in Des Moines. Soon after, she and friends moved to Dayton, Ohio, to work at Wright Field during WWII.On Christmas Day of 1945, she was united in marriage to Bill Shore at the Minerva Wesley Chapel. They made their home in Marshalltown where she was employed with Hillemans Preschool, Marshall Ice Cream and, until retiring after 26 years of faithful service, Fisher Controls. Jeanne was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and Elks Lodge and enjoyed cooking, baking (awesome cookies!), story-telling, traveling, and attending her grandkids events. Recently, she got her own I-Pad and started her own Facebook page. She enjoyed doing this to keep in contact with her younger generations. Jeanne also loved watching the Chicago Cubs, golf and Iowa Basketball games.Left to cherish her memory are her children: Karen (Micheal) Himes, Nancy (Richard) Vanderah and Tim (Marcia) Shore all of Marshalltown; her grandchildren- Dawn (Kevin) Noel, Darcy Burns, Michele Bang, Bradley (Jenny) Weatherman, Abby Vanderah, Ryan Shore, Allison Shore, and Lindsay Shore; five great-grandchildren- Kelsey, Emma, Sam, Jacob and Jace; her sisters-in-law Orrell Mae Veren, Betty Shore, Martha (Lowell) Keeler and Virginia (Charles) Sloat, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and adopted families at Glenwood Place and the Village Cooperative. Jeanne was also blessed with Mirella Frericks in her life - her foreign exchange granddaughter from the Netherlands.In death, Jeanne rejoins her beloved husband of 65 years, Bill who died October 9, 2011, her parents, three brothers- Richard, Clifford and James, grandson Phillip Weatherman, great-granddaughter Kaitlyn Weatherman.
