Mary Vajgrt

Mary Vajgrt, 82, of Branson, Missouri and formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on November 16, 2022 in the comfort of her own home surrounded by family.

Services for Mary will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Mary Ruth Fiscus was born July, 3, 1940 to parents Garret and Arlene (Miller) Fiscus in Marshalltown, Iowa. She grew up in Liscomb, Iowa and attended school in Marshalltown where she would graduate in the class of 1958.

Mary would be united in marriage to the love of her life, Harold Raymon Vajgrt. Together they began a family of their own raising their four children Curtis, Jeanette, Jeffrey, and Christine. Mary worked for many years at the Iowa Veteran’s Home where she held positions in the cantina area and the cashier’s office. She moved to Branson, Missouri and worked for the Mickey Gilley Theatre where she continued working until she turned 78. She stayed active throughout various organizations such as the Rainbow’s and with Central Christian Church in Marshalltown.

In her free time, Mary enjoyed working on puzzles, tending to her gardens, going to the shows and meeting the celebrities at the theatre, going on fishing trips to Canada. She always took pride in her family whether that was helping out the kids, tending to the home, or helping out Harold in his excavating business. She had a kind heart and those who were lucky to know her were considered to be friends of hers.

Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her children Curtis (Marie) Vajgrt of Urbandale, Iowa, Jeanette Vajgrt (Daryl Koch) of Marshalltown, Iowa, Jeffrey (Susan) Vajgrt of Marshalltown, Iowa and Christine (Brian) Gould of Minoqua, Wisconsin; her grandchildren Brandon Muir, Nicole Muir, Brett Mowrey, Jenna Sullivan, Samantha Malley, Alex Vajgrt, Ben Vajgrt, Chelsea Vajgrt, Carmen Vajgrt, Madelyn Vajgrt, Nick Gould and Aaron Gould; her 11 great-grandchildren; her sisters Connie (Larry) Bumsted and Dona Fiscus; alongside numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harold; her parents Garret and Arlene Fiscus; her brothers Ronnie and Bob Fiscus; her son-in-law Dick Mowrey; and her four legged furry companions Georgia and Shadow.
