Marylouise (Mrs. Charles) Long, 85, of Marshalltown, died Saturday, September 26th, at the Iowa River Hospice House while in their care and that of her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 1, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Pastor Mee Kang of the Albion United Methodist Church and Pastor Bea Lebuda of the Albion Presbyterian Church officiating. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at that same time. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Born Marylouise Graves on November 29th, 1923, near Conrad, Iowa, she was one of three daughters born to Harry and Grace (Bonzer) Graves. She graduated from the Albion High School and later attended business college. On August 1, 1943, at the Albion United Methodist Church, she was united in marriage to Charles Long. They made their home in Albion and later moved to Marshalltown. Mrs. Long was City Clerk of Albion, worked at Lennox, but had the most important titles of mom and wife. She was a homemaker and member of the Albion United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and in 1969-70 served as Grand Organist for the OES State of Iowa, composing the Eastern Star march The Angel Express March. She was also involved with many civic organizations and supported her husbands activities as well. Marylouise enjoyed traveling, teaching organ and piano, being the church organist and treasured her family,which was her biggest interest. Left to cherish her memory are Charles, her loving husband of 66 years; her children Larry (Jackie) Long of Wichita, KS, Kevin (Pam) Long of Marion, Iowa, Gregory (Cheryl) Long of Johnston, Iowa, and Mitzi (Doug) Currie of Polk City, Iowa; Grandchildren Tammy Meyer, Jeff Long, Aaron Long, Matt Long, Jennifer Long, Nathan Long, Angela Greubel, Jeffrey Currie, Brian Currie and Colin Currie; 21 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, her dear sister Beverly Wagner of Marshalltown and a host of friends. In death, she has joined her parents, sister Henrietta Logsdon, grandsons Michael and David, great-granddaughter Ashley and great-grandson Scott.
