Matthew Lavender, 33, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2013 in Marshalltown.Memorial services will be held on Saturday June 22, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Phone 641-844-1234.Matthew Allen Lavender was born on May 1, 1980, in Bend, Oregon. He was the son of Dennis and Jerri (Garrett) Lavender. Matt attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District, graduating with the class of 1999. He was a resident of Marshalltown. Matt loved and cherished the time he spent with his kids, whether it was playing soccer, fishing, or basketball. He enjoyed anything outdoors, including yard work, and he was always was willing to help anyone he could.Left to cherish his memory is his mom, Jerri (Garrett) Lavender and her gentleman friend, Donald Boardman; girlfriend: Alicia Kinzenbaw. Children: Payton (12), son of Shay Dutton, and Kaela (6), daughter of Anjie Pefferman. Brothers: Josh Lavender, Jeremy (Julie) Lavender, and Jason (Emily) Babinat. Grandparents: Barbara Garrett and Gordon Lavender and step children Tiera (9) and Daysen (6).In death, he rejoins his father Dennis; brother, James; grandpa, Howard Garrett; grandma, Barb Lavender; uncle, Warren Garrett; and his great grandparents.
