For online condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph 641-844-1234. Born April 26, 1954 in Marshalltown, she was the oldest daughter of Dale and Ruth (Manz) Sommerlot. After graduating from Dunkerton High School, Maureen did some modeling at Crossroads Mall in Waterloo. Later she moved to Conrad, where she worked at Ritchie Manufacturing. It was here in Conrad that she found the love of her life β a gift she truly felt was from God. On October 15, 1973 she was asked out by Glen Wiley and the two have been inseparable ever since. They were united in marriage on August 23, 1974 at the Cedarloo Baptist Church. They made their home south of Liscomb before moving to the farmhouse between Albion and Clemons, where they shared 34 years together. It was here they enjoyed the simple farm life: one where Maureen was a doting and completely dedicated wife and mother to their two precious daughters. She loved her beautiful flower gardens and their animals. She was warm and welcoming and had a knack for making their house feel like a home with her decorating skills. Maureen was a member of the Whitten Community Church and lived her deep faith out daily in her actions and disposition. She was so grateful for everything she had- was easy to please and very happy with her life. More than anything in the world she loved her husband, her daughters and her granddaughters. She and Glen had a marriage most people wished for and she never took that for granted. Maureen is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Glen; two beautiful daughters: Christy Lively of Story City and Amber (Dewey) Perdue of Des Moines; her precious granddaughters: Sydney and Sophia; her siblings: Delvin (Renee) Sommerlot of Dunkerton, Kent (Christena) Sommerlot of Dunkerton, Melanie βMelβ (Darwin) Engelkes of Wellsburg and Michelle (Joe) Campbell of Hudson and numerous nieces and nephews. In eternal life, she is reunited with her parents, Dale and Ruth.
