Max Dannen, 77, of Marshalltown, died Friday, December 14, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, at the 1st Congregational Church with Pastor Barry Holmes officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Eden Cemetery at Rhodes in a private family service. Visitation will be held from 3-5:00 p.m., Sunday,December 16,at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on April 3, 1935, in rural Jasper County, Iowa, he was the son of John M. and Frieda (Krausman) Dannen. He graduated from the Rhodes High School in 1953. He later served our country honorably in the United States Army. On June 9, 1958, he was united in marriage to Norma Strever in Marshalltown. Max was employed at the Lennox Foundry for 17 years and retired from Fisher Controls in 1995 after 22 years of faithful service. He was a member of the First Congregational Church where he served as a deacon, Members 1st Credit Union Board of Directors and the Marshalltown Bowling Association. Surviving are his loving wife, Norma, his children: Jim (Mary) Dannen of Marshalltown, Joel (Kirsten) Dannen of Linn Valley, Kansas, and Jill (Dave) Stanton of Newton; grandchildren: Jacob (Brooke) Dannen, Zachary Dannen, Rachel Dannen, Julie Dannen, Josh Stanton, Krysanna (Brent) Nussbaum, Jeff Stanton and Tyler Stanton; great-grandchildren: Maximus Dannen and Elissa Nussbaum, his siblings: Marjorie Stewart of Gilman, JoAnn (Lloyd) Varnum of Marshalltown, Lloyd (Mary) Dannen of Tekamah, NE. and Duane Chuck (Rita) Dannen of Rhodes as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents andbrothers: George, Jake, Leonard and Jerry.
