Max Gerber, 73, of Conrad, Iowa passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St Henry's Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Phone 641-844-1234. Max William Gerber was born near Elkader, Iowa on January 8, 1942; he was the son of Maxamillion and Florence (Hand) Gerber. Max attended school in the Loras Academy in Dubuque, Iowa, graduating with the Class of 1960. In July of 1961 Max was united in marriage to Bonnie Link, they later divorced but remained friends. Max was in the Army Reserves and worked for the United States Foreign Service from 1984 until 2004. He had also worked at W.C. Brown Publishing of Dubuque. Max was a member of St. Henrys Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golf and enjoyed golfing at Oakwood Golf Course in Conrad and he loved to bowl, but above all he enjoyed going to his grandchildrens events. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Ann (Edward) Hogle of Nevada, Iowa, Max (Pamela) Gerber of Nevada, Iowa and Tom (Shawn) Gerber of Vinton, Iowa; grandchildren: Nick and Andrew (Amy) Kirkpatrick, Brady(Megan), Brinkley, Bristi, and Brandis Gerber, Summer Adkins, April Gerber, Jordan Toler, great-grandson, Richard Erb and another on the way; and brother, Bill (Rachel) Gerber, of Dubuque, Iowa. In death Max rejoins his parents, Maximillian and Florence and his significant other, Bonnie Gerber.
