Born Maxine Genevieve Tweed on August 6th, 1922, in rural Dunbar, Iowa, she was the daughter of Harold and Ida (Gorgas) Tweed. She graduated from the Dunbar High School in 1939. Maxine was born and lived her entire life within a five-mile radius until moving to the Embers. On June 27th, 1941, she was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Ferguson in Marshalltown. She was a homemaker, sold Avon, did occasional cooking at the LDF Schools and was a longtime member of the Strand Lutheran Church in Dunbar until their closing then moving her membership to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Mrs. Ferguson truly enjoyed her memberships in several organizations and clubs including being a charter member of the LeGrand Lioness Club where she held office until recently, the LeGrand ACT Club, and church work as well as several different social groups. She worked hard in vegetable and flower gardens work she thoroughly enjoyed. Nothing was ever as important to her as her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Wendell Tweed and Orin Tweed and her husband, Kenneth on April 15th, 2008. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kent (Nancy) Ferguson of Morrison, CO; Kregg (Doris) Ferguson of Des Moines and Sheri (Craig) Olsen of Savage, MN, 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
