Maylon Kern

I was born to Lowell C. and Marjorie Ellen (Moody) Kern July 20, 1941, four and a half months before FDR declared “a Day of Infamy”. My grandparents were George and Stella (Burke) Moody and Charles W. and Antonia “Tony” (Holecek) Kern. They all passed long ago.

I graduated Naper HS in ’59, graduated university in ’63 and married my high school sweetheart, Marilyn Rose Reiman that same summer, June 1, 1963.

Now in passing, I leave behind my wife Marilyn and our two sons Jon (Sara) and David (Angela), five granddaughters; Danielle (Robert), Kassandra (Clayton), Mattie (Will), Tess, and Ava, and one grandson, Rafe Henry Kern

A BA degree in math from the Univ. of South Dakota served me well. I came up in a time when computers were new and programmers were few from Omaha to Minneapolis to Houston to Florida to Marshalltown, companies paid for my computer skills. The last half of my career was consulting with clients defining and contracting the systems I’d built during the first half of fifty years working. It’s true, when the job is fun, you’ll never work a day in your life.

Per Maylon’s wishes, cremation rites will take place. There will be no formal services. Maylon will be laid to rest near family in Butte, Nebraska.
