Melvin James 'Jim' Wolfe

Melvin James Jim Wolfe, 72, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Memorial services for Jim will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church located in Marshalltown, Iowa, with Rev. Dr. Richard A. King officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed in Jims name to Iowa River Hospice Home and/or the Alzheimer's Association. For further information or to send a condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call (641) 844-1234. Jim was born in Stuart, Iowa, on June 23, 1942, the son of Dale and Louise (Knapp) Wolfe. He graduated from Stuart High School in 1960, and shortly after graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Marge (Strong). Upon graduation from Iowa State University, Jim and Marge moved to Marshalltown where Jim began his 34 year career in research at Fisher Controls. Jim was a man of many gifts and talents. He could fix anything mechanical. His hobbies included wildlife photography and conservation of Natural Resources. He was very active in his church serving as an Elder, teaching Sunday school, leading a youth group on a mission trip to Haiti, and working at the homeless shelter. He was also a member of the Isaac Walton League, and was an active participant with the Food Resource Bank. Jim was also a Hunter Safety Instructor. Above all else, Jim loved and treasured his family. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Marge of 54 years; three daughters: Joy Annette Wooldridge (the late Michael) of Dallas, TX, Sheila (Craig) Betzer of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Julie Turner of Marshalltown, IA; six grandchildren: Nathan (Jackie) Williams, Adam (Candy) Williams, Brenda (Will) McCraney, Cortney Wooldridge, Ben Turner, and Sam Turner; three great grandchildren: Rebecca Whiting, Leah Whiting, and Olivia Margaret Williams; one brother: Norman Wolfe of Stuart, IA; one sister: Judy Kidwell of Iowa City, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, son in law, Michael; and an infant sister, Cynthia Joy. Per Jims request, his body has been donated to science for help in the research of Alzheimers Disease.
