Michael J. Blindt

Michael J. Blindt, 52, of Marshalltown, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at his residence. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 7, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home where his family will be present to greet friends. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date in Biggsville, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be directed in Michaels name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He was raised and educated in Biggsville, Illinois, where he graduated from high school. Following graduation he was employed at Wilsons in Monmouth, Illinois, the Burlington Basket in Burlington, Iowa, Jerrys Country Auto in Biggsville, Illinois and at the KMART Automotive Center in Burlington for several years before transferring to the Marshalltown, Iowa, KMART Automotive Center. At the time of his retirement from working Michael was employed by the McAtee Tire Sale & Service in Marshalltown. When he had spare time, Michael enjoyed fishing, bowling with his league friends, slow pitch softball, cooking and especially grilling. Michael is survived by his children: Michael (Kimberly Wilson) Blindt of Monmouth, Illinois, Tyler (Natalie) Blindt of Biggsville, Illinois, Cheyenne Blindt of Marshalltown and Tiegan Blindt of Granger, Iowa, his grandchildren: Aaron Blindt, Dakota Wilson, Lilly Anna Blindt, Sophia Blindt, Emily, Molly, Matthew and Lucas Johnson, his brother Mark Blindt of Biggsville, his sister Christina (Jerry) Carnes of Biggsville, his nephews: Scott Blindt, Noah Blindt, Jason (Stephanie) Carnes, his niece Brenda Carnes, his great-nephews Max and Mason and his great niece Hannah. Michael was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
