Michael Bloomquist

Michael Frank Bloomquist, 62, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on February 1, 2019. Staying true to his wishes no funeral services are scheduled at this time. Mike was born on October 29, 1956 to Richard and Patricia (Wilson) Bloomquist in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mike was a graduate of Marshalltown High School with the class of 1974. In his younger years he was very fond of putting together models of cars and motorcycles, which that love transitioned into go-carts and mini-bikes, which lead to the nickname of Mini-bike Mike. He was a gear head, always working on cars and motorcycles in his free time. He turned that passion into his daily job working for his father at Bloomquist Auto Repair Inc. If he was not in the garage working you knew you could find him at his favorite fishing spot on the Iowa River. He loved spending his time camping with his family and taught both of his children to appreciate nature and the outdoors.   Mike leaves behind his children Travis (Amanda) Bloomquist, and Teresa (Jake Berthuson) Bloomquist; his grandchildren: Locke, Jessie, Natalie, Ziggy, and Lucille. He is also survived by his siblings Paul, Bob, and Anita; and his lifelong friend Denise. He is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew.
