Mike Collins

Michael "Mike" Collins, 59, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at UnityPoint Health - Allen Memorial Hospital.

A private family service honoring Mike has been scheduled and memorials in his name may be directed to his family for a later designation. Michael Scott Collins was born January 15, 1965 in Waterloo, Iowa to parents Virgil and Connie (Julian) Collins. He grew up in Grundy Center, Iowa, graduating from Grundy Center High School with the class of 1983.

Mike was a tremendous fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the San Francisco 49ers, and the New York Yankees. Mike made friends wherever he went, having lived in Iowa, Minnesota, New York, and Arizona. He most loved spending time with his family, and adored his many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother and stepfather, Connie and Stan Raskow of Whitleyville, TN; his siblings: Jill Collins of Gladbrook, IA; Christine (Jeff) Fischer of Whitleyville, TN; Lisa (Drew) Podgorski of Roscoe, IL; and John Collins of Guttenberg, IA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Virgil and Mitzi Collins, maternal grandparents Herschal and Eleanor Julian, paternal grandparents Warren and Stella Collins, his brother-in-law William Baumeier and great-nephew Layton Matthew.
