Michael Edwin Lawthers

Michael Edwin Lawthers passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026 at Accura Nursing Home in Marshalltown.

A graveside service for Michael will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 1:30PM at Rose Hill Cemetery (Please note the date). Michael was born to Darold and Shirley Richardson Lawthers on August 17, 1961. Michael, or as he was known in his youth Big Mike, was a stubborn man. He had a soft side but appreciated a good argument. He also loved to watch M*A*S*H*, watching Hawkeye sports, and loved Harley Davidson though motorcycle he ever owned was a Suzuki. Michael loved camping, hunting, and fishing, born of the time when the family would pile into a pull behind camper and travel all five of them together as children, and fish from the family boat. Michael worked as a lineman in Michigan for several years and more recently was employed by Mid-Iowa workshop, Wal-Mart, and Burger King.

Michael is survived by his daughter Crystal Lawthers, grandsons Mario and Isaiah, brother Dean Lawthers (Michelle), sister Kathy Abeling (Jeff), and various nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
