Michael Rhoades

Mike Rhoades, 31, of Marshalltown, died early Sunday morning, November 25th, at his home that he made with his grandmother on their century farm. Memorial services celebrating Mikes life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1st, at the LaMoille Congregational Church with Pastor Harlan Nuss officiating. Family interment rites will be at the Elmwood Cemetery at LaMoille at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family. Born Michael Dean Rhoades on November 16th, 1976, in Iowa City, he was the son of Terry Lee and Nancy Lee (Rider) Rhoades and the third of four children. He received his education in Marshalltown and later graduated from truck driving school. Mike grew up in the LaMoille area and was a member of the LaMoille Congregational Church and attended 4-H and Boy Scouts as a youth. He treasured living on the family Century Farm with his grandmother, collected all kinds of music, loved pets, especially cats and his family and friends. Left to mourn his sudden and unexpected loss are his mother Nancy Rhoades of LeGrand, grandmother Dorothy Rider of LaMoille (rural Marshalltown), siblings Michelle (Craig) Moore of Des Moines, Dennis (Carie) Albers of Portland, Oregon, Tim (Emily) Rhoades of Jefferson, several cousins, aunts and uncles. In death he has rejoined his father, Terry Lee Rhoades, great-grandfather E.C. Wickersham, great-grandmother Myrtle Rider and grandfather Robert Rider, Sr.
