Michael Valline

Michael Valline, 68, of Toledo, died Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Following cremation, a private family memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions may be directed in his name to the Toledo Animal Shelter, Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown or the First Presbyterian Church in Toledo. Michael was born March 23, 1944, in Concord, California, the son of Haynard and Mary (Brady) Valline. Their family lived in California for a short time before moving to Nevada, Iowa. Michael went on to graduate from the Toledo High School in Toledo, Iowa. He was married to Jackie McAteer-Cizek and to this union three children were born: Paige, Julie and Bryan. Michael and Jackie later divorced. Michael moved to Arizona where he married Wanda Strum. Wanda had three children: Jeff, Ronda and Renae. Michael and Wanda were married thirty-seven years. He recently returned home to the Toledo area. Throughout his lifetime Michael worked as both a plumber and in produce. The youngest of seven children Michael was always on the go and living life fast. He will be remembered as a generous man who had a great sense of humor and who loved to tell stories. He enjoyed fishing, especially bank-lining, golfing, trips to the casino and woodworking. Michael donated several of his woodworking pieces to charities. Most of all, Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Michael was a volunteer fireman for the Toledo Fire Department. Michael is survived by his children: Paige Valline of Toledo, Julie (Todd) Valline-Chyma of Toledo and Bryan (Rhonda) Valline of Tama, his grandchildren: Brooke, Kyle, Todd, Bryana and Ryan, his great-grandson Kyler Jay, his brothers: Wesley (Kathy) Valline of Nevada, Iowa and Richard Valline of Henderson, Nevada, his sister, Rita (Dave) Ferneau of Malcom, Iowa. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Ronald, Lanney, Haynard Butch Jr., his wife Wanda Valline in November of 2011 and his beloved miniature schnauzer Peanut.
