Michael Walkup

Michael Ray Walkup, 52, of State Center, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Memorial services for Michael will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 (note date) at 11:00 a.m. at St Paul Lutheran Church in State Center. Visitation will be one hour before the service starting at 10:00. Memorials may be directed to the family. Michael Walkup was born on March 9, 1964 in Marshalltown to Ervin and Judith Meier Walkup. He graduated from West Marshall High School. Michael was employed at Thompson Enterprises and was self-employed mowing lawns and plowing snow. He was also a member of the State Center Fire Department. He enjoyed camping, fishing, tinkering on yard equipment, snow removal and lawn mowing. Michael is survived by his siblings: Robin (Doug) Hobbs of State Center, Jody (Brian) Kunkel of Marshalltown and Greg (Christi) Walkup of New Sharon. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, cousins and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Michael is preceded in death by his parents Ervin and Judith, maternal grandparents: Roy and Lillith Meier and paternal grandparents: Clint and Minnie (Ruth) Walkup.
