Michael Waltemeyer, 16, was tragically taken on the early morning of Tuesday, February 18th, at his home with his faithful companion, Moose the dog, guarding over him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Born on August 22, 1997, in Iowa City, he blessed his parents, Roger Waltemeyer and Carolyn (Hartwig) Waltemeyer , along with his twin sister, Shannon. He was currently a sophomore in the Marshalltown High School and enjoyed anything outdoors- hunting, fishing, and collecting knives, as well as listening to music, bowling, and hanging with girlfriend, Caitlyn Wenner and friends. He was known as such a kind and nice young man who always had a smile and recently started attending youth group at New Hope Christian Church. Left to cherish his memory among so many are his parents and twin sister, Shannon; his grandma, Shirley Waltemeyer; aunt, JoAnn (Mike) Willits; uncle, Craig Waltemeyer; great-aunt, Virginia Johnson; great-uncle, Rick; great-aunt, Beverly; and great aunt and uncle, Dale and Dorothy; as well as other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In death, Michael rejoined his brother Anthony, who died of cancer at age 15; his grandpa, David; uncle, Dwayne; and great-grandma, Vera Hall.
