Michelle Tegeler, 53, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away in the early hours of the morning on February 22, 2020 at Accura Healthcare in Marshalltown.A memorial service for Michelle will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marshalltown Animal Rescue League or Hospice Compassus. Michelle Ann Tegeler was born February 3, 1967 to parents Harold and Mary (Helle) Tegeler in Manchester, Iowa. She was the oldest of three children born to the family. Michelle attended Ed-Co High School in Edgewood, Iowa and graduated with the class of 1985. While in high school, Michelle played basketball and volleyball and participated in several band and vocal music groups. She then attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated in 1990 with a degree in early childhood education. While at UNI, Michelle was a member of the marching band and music sorority Tau Beta Sigma. Michelle worked in the Marshalltown school system as a paraeducator in a special education classroom. She was then employed at CIRSI in Marshalltown until 2007 when she retired for health reasons. On June 14, 2018, Michelle was united in marriage to her partner of 31 years, Dinann Delfs. Michelle will be remembered for her compassion for others and for the dignity, strength, and humor she showed while living with her illness. Left to remember and cherish her memory are her wife, Dinann Delfs; parents, Harold and Mary Tegeler; siblings David (Rachel) Tegeler and Audrey Tegeler; sister-in-law, Amanda (Eddie) Simmons; her nieces and nephews: Brice Tegeler, Isaac Tegeler, Jared Tegeler, Nathan Tegeler, Ari Machado, Jade Machado, Savannah Simmons, and Colton Simmons; step-grandfather, Bob Fishel; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Leo and Frances Helle, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Reynold Tegeler, Sr. and Irene Fishel; mother-in-law, Diane Smith; father-in-law, Gary Delfs; brother-in-law, Duane Delfs; and her beloved fur babies, Wylie and Dewey.
