Mickey Duane Paxson, 65, of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, died Sunday, January 24, 2010.Funeral services will be held at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Phone 641-844-1234.Born Mickey Duane Paxson on February 4th, 1944, in Hampton, Iowa, he was the son of Addison Edmund and Ruth Lillian (Larsen) Paxson. He graduated from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1963. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force being honorably discharged in 1967. He then moved back to Marshalltown where he resided until his death. Mickey had worked at KIOWA for 1 year and then worked for Lennox for 31-1/2 before retiring.Mickey knew everyone and will be remembered for being fun- loving. He may have been a little quiet until he got to know you, but always wanted to do the right thing. He had a soft heart for others and was very generous to his friends. He loved to golf and golfed at various courses around Iowa. He also liked bowling, darts, playing pool and loved to fish. Mickey was a devout Hawkeye fan along with the Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed movies at home and the theatre, traveling, stopping at all the casinos on the way, and he enjoyed playing cards, especially pepper and Texas holdem. Left to cherish his memory is his sister Marilyn Denton of Marshalltown and nieces and nephews.In death he rejoins his parents and his brother Harold Eddy Paxson.
