Mildred Tiny Douds, 83, of Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center, died Friday morning, March 30th, while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Her death came peacefully with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 3rd, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery, with a time of fellowship and refreshment to follow in the hospitality room of the funeral home. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Mildred and her family. Mildred was born on March 20th, 1924, on the family farm in State Center, Iowa, to Ernest and Minnie Goecke. She received her education in Marshalltown, graduating with the class of 1941. She was united in marriage to Harold Robert Douds on November 29th, 1941 in Missouri. They lived their entire married lives in Marshall County where they farmed and owned and operated a furniture store in Melbourne, Iowa. Mildred and Harold loved to travel and spent many winters in Texas and Arizona. She also enjoyed fishing, sewing, knitting, cooking (and was great at it) and walking on the beach near the water. Left to mourn her loss are her sons: Jim(Mary) of Marshalltown and Sam of Port Isabel, Texas, two grandchildren Stephanie (Chad) Schwabe of Newton and Justin (Angela) Douds of Des Moines, three great-grandchildren who brought her great joy and always made her smile, and siblings, Earl Goecke and Fran Holm. Preceding her in death are her parents, her beloved husband, Harold, son, Kimmerick Alan Douds in 1969, siblings Harold, Louie, Bernice and Edna.Services are pending
