Mildred Mayer Irish, 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on, December 8, 2014, in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until service time on Tuesday. Phone 641-844-1234. Mildred Lucille Stanley was born on January 25, 1929 in Marshalltown, Iowa; she was the daughter of Ralph Sr. and Gladys (Kelly) Stanley. Mildred attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 1947. On June 7, 1947, Mildred was united in marriage to James L. Mayer in Des Moines, Iowa. She had lived her life in Marshalltown until September of this year when she moved to Virginia to be near her family. She was a homemaker and mother a job she loved. Mildred enjoyed reading, fishing, Gardening and walking but most of all she loved her family. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Richard (Charlotte) Mayer of Bluffton, South Carolina, Ronald (Linda) Mayer of Midlothian, Virginia, grandchildren: Kimberly, Kristen, Eric, Laurie and Lindsay, great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Aleah, Carmen, Benjamin, Jackson. Siblings: Dorcelle (Ted) Trowbridge of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ralph (Phyllis) Stanley Jr. of Marshalltown, Iowa and Mary Jane (John) Hitchings of Marshalltown, Iowa and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death Mildred rejoins her parents, Gladys and Ralph, husband, James, and brother, Elliott and brother-in-law Earl Khile.
