Mildred (Millie) McCurnin 86 of Marshalltown died Thursday, May 5, 2011 surrounded by her family and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Family or Iowa River Hospice. Phone 641-844-1234.Mildred Mae Wollesen was born in Sac County, Iowa on May 29, 1924 to Ed and Elizabeth (Mauner) Wollesen. She attended school in the Lake View School District, graduating from Lake View High School in 1941. Mildred married Mac McCurnin on January 29, 1946 at the Wall Lake Lutheran Church.; they had resided in Marshalltown, Mac died in 1986. Mildred had worked at Dunham Bush for 25 years retiring in 1987. Millie had been a member of the Redeemer Lutheran in Marshalltown, the LWML and the American Legion. Millie loved to fish, enjoyed playing cards and the fellowship she had while playing cards and will be remembered for great cooking and baking.Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Debra Thompson and Vicky Stanfield both of Marshalltown, two grandchildren and her grand-dog Frankie and five great-grandchildren, and her sister Lucille Cleveland of Lake View.Millie was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Elizabeth and her four brothers Edward, Everett Alford and Lavern.
