Mildred L. Millie McOmber, 88, of Marshalltown, died June 12, 2008 at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center while in the care of her loving family and Iowa Hospice.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Reverend Kim Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Mildred Louise Arnold was born on May 11, 1920 in Marshalltown to Lewis and Mayme (Overland) Arnold. She was educated in the Marshalltown area schools. Millie was married to Dwight Eash for 45 years. Dwight passed away in 1984. She later was married Gene McOmber for 9 years, and Gene passed away in 1997. Millie worked at Cooper Manufacturing for 17 years as a punch press operator. She later worked at the MHS cafeteria and Fisher Controls, retiring from Fisher in 1986 after working for 9 years in electronics. Millie enjoyed wintering in Texas and Arizona. Millie especially enjoyed gardening and flower gardens, upholstering, quilting, sewing, fishing, painting, wallpapering, interior decorating, and ceramics. She won awards for her ceramics, especially Victorian Santas. She was a very creative and artistic person, and she will be greatly missed.Millie is survived by her children, Rosemary (Corwin) Kelderman of Marshalltown, Charlotte Weitzell of Marshalltown, and Richard (Teri) Eash of Urbana, OH; her 11 grandchildren; her 18 great-grandchildren, her 11 great-great-grandchildren; her brother Joe (Bea) Arnold of Clemons, and her sister Pearl Scranton of Cedar Rapids.She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dwight and Gene; 2 children in infancy; daughter Janie in 2007; brothers Charles Arnold and Glen Arnold; and sisters Mary Ellen Loy, Doris McCollum, and Betty Frericks.
