Mildred Ryan

Mildred Ryan, 94, formally of Marshalltown, Iowa, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at River Oaks Sr. in Anoka, Minnesota. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with burial following at Riverside cemetery. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Mildred and her family. Mildred (Minard) Ryan was born on April 16, 1919, on a farm north of Conrad, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Clara (Koehler) Minard. She was raised and educated in the Conrad and Toledo school district graduating from Toledo High School. Mildred received several awards performing with the piano and singing in the school choir. She was united in marriage to Emmet Ryan on January 29, 1938, in Vinton, Iowa and they wed for 70 years. Mildred worked at teaching piano, playing for occasions and performing. She worked at Meads Ice Cream shop for 13 years and was a meter maid for the city of Marshalltown. She retired to Lake Bisteneau, Louisiana for 13 years and moved back to Marshalltown in 1989. Left to cherish her memory is her son Larry (Suzy) Ryan of Shreveport, Louisiana, daughter Mary (Marvin) Ryan Kalbow of Andover, Minnesota; her 4 grandchildren, Cory, Casey, Melanie and Mandy; and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Emmett, two brothers Harold and Don, parents Earl and Clara (Koehler) Minard of Conrad, Iowa.
