She received her education in the area of her birth (many times riding a horse to school) and was one of the first graduating classes at the new Marshalltown Senior High School Building (now Miller Middle School). She received her teachers certificate and taught at local, rural, one-room schools. Many times she began her day shoveling snow and stoking the stove at the school. On May 16th, 1934, she was united in marriage to William Russell Tomlinson. They farmed all of their married lives in the Hartland Community. She was a lifelong member of the Hartland Friends Church (her grandfather Wagoner was a founding member of the church), the Marietta Community Club, Hartland Missionary Society and the Clemons Garden Club. She enjoyed her family, gardening and flowers, cooking and her famous pies. Left to celebrate her life is her children: William L. Bill (Sue) Tomlinson of rural Marshalltown, Karen Johnson of Denver, Colorado, Linda (Bob) Casey of Ft. Dodge and Connie (Richard) Goodman of State Center, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. In death she has rejoined her parents, her husband, brothers Lowell and Otha Wagoner and Alfred in infancy and sisters Helen Holmquist and Martha Fanton.
