Milon Bud Thatcher, 88, of Liscomb, died late Sunday night, August 14, at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad.Private family interment rites will be held. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be directed to Bethel Grove Church. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Bud and his family. Ph. 641-844-1234.Born on February 16, 1923, at rural Liscomb, he was the son of Milon J. and Lola Gould Thatcher, Sr. He graduated from the Liscomb High Schools Class of 1942 and went on to serve our country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII.On August 19, 1947, at the Little Brown Church, he was united in marriage to Sara Hughes. They made their home at Liscomb where they farmed all of their married lives. Bud was also employed for 33 faithful years at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown and was a charter member of the UAW Local #893 unit #1, lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Bud enjoyed woodworking, Black Angus Cattle, stock-car races and time with his family.Left to treasure his memory are Sara, his loving wife of 63 years, his son Jerry (Karen) Thatcher of rural Marshalltown, grandchildren- Tom Thatcher of rural Liscomb and Jeff (Pam) Thatcher of Union, five great-grandchildren and siblings: Garnet Rogers of Marshalltown, Joyce McCormick of Burlington, and Patricia McAlister of Marshalltown as well as nieces and nephews. In death, Bud rejoined his parents and sister, Arlene Meyer.
