Mina Klaas, 74, of State Center, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2013, at Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown, Iowa, surrounded by her loving family. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be on Friday, August 9, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Mina and her family. Phone 641-844-1234. Mina JoAnn Lampman was born on February 10, 1939, at Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown. She was the daughter of Robert "Bob" and Lois Faye (Griggs) Lampman. Mina attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 1957. She then attended Friends Bible College and William Penn College in Oskaloosa, receiving her teaching license and teaching 2 years in Green Mountain. On June 9, 1962, Mina was united in marriage to Arnold G. Klaas at St. Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Mina and Arnold made their home in Melbourne and moved to State Center in the mid 80s. Mina assisted with concessions and sold antiques at the Red Barn at Van Metre Auctions and also managed many flea markets and craft shows. Mina was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in State Center, enjoyed singing in choir, musicals, and weddings. She was a member of the U GO I GO Club, and Baxter CB Radio Club. Mina enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and Skip Bo. Mina and Arnold enjoyed square dancing. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 51 years, Arnold of State Center. Children: Linda Sue (Thom) Burke of Kaukauna, Wisconsin; Barbara Kay (Richard) Willoughby of Jacksonville , Florida; Rita Jean (Larry) Henson of Des Moines; and Captain Ronald Duane (Brandi) Klaas of Virginia. Grandchildren: Amber and Amy Smith, Richard, Jr. and Brittany Willoughby, Lora, Robert and Lindsay Laverty, and Emily and Ellie Klaas; 4 step-grandchildren: Rosalie, Clara Mae, Celeste and Joe Henson. Siblings: Donna (Mike) Rucinski of Cedar, Iowa; and David (Kim) Lampman of Marshalltown, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In death, she rejoins her parents, Robert "Bob" and Faye Lampman; sister, Marlys Dudley; her in-laws, George and Elsie Klaas; and sister-in-law, Marie Klaas.
