It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our Father-Grandpa-Great Grandpa, Monte Harvey Aman of Marshalltown, Iowa on October 16th, 2021 at the age of 85 years. Monte was born in Valley City, ND on September 4th, 1936. He moved to Marshalltown in 1953. He served three years in the Regular United States Army from September 11, 1953 to August 16, 1956, and was Honorably Discharged on August 31st, 1961. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a Korean War Era veteran. He also served in the Army National Guard in Marshalltown. On October 26, 1957, Monte and Jean Snider were united in marriage and to this union three daughters: Robin, Christy and Teresa and two sons: Rusty and Joshua were born. He will be lovingly remembered by his significant other of 27 years, Shane Ann (McKenzie) Spafford; children: Robin (Tim) Bradbury, Christine Hopwood, Rusty (Amy) Aman, Teresa (Raymond) Cardwell and Joshua (Kristi) Aman; brother, Gerald Aman Sr. and two sisters: ElDora (Kenneth) Perry and JoAnne (William) Bissell; as well as 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Harvey Harrison Aman and Olive Adaline (Wolski) Aman, brother Jon Herman, sister LaDonna Louise and two grandchildren: Kathryn Lee and Joanna Marie Hopwood. After his military service, Monte drove semi over the road, and worked at Kiowa and JBS Swift. But, he was a cowboy at heart; whether being a rodeo clown on his trick horse, pulling buggies, showing horses in 4H with his children, trail riding, horse camping, buying, selling or trading horses. He also loved his dogs, especially his last one, Ricky. He enjoyed serving as a Chaplain for Civil War Reenactments and his gun collection. Later in life, he traded in his leather chaps and trail rides for biker leather and the open road on a Can Am 3-wheel motorcycle! Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Monte and his family. Cremation rites have been accorded and private services for the family were held. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on June 18 at 10:00 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Military Honors were provided by the combined VFW/American Legion of the surrounding area. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Army of Southwest (Civil War Reenactment Club), c/o Private O.J. Fargo (club president) 601 W.
