Muriel Burke

Muriel Jeane Burke, 86, of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Villa Del Sol and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home. Memorial services for Muriel will be held on Saturday, March 14, (note date) 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service times. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Muriel and her family. Muriel Burke was born on January 13, 1929 in Tama County to William Sr and Lillie (Ledthje) Burke. Muriel went back to high school later in life and graduated in 1977, from West Marshall High School. Muriel most recently had been employed with APAC having retired from KIOWA in 1982. Muriel enjoyed crafts, reading, drawing, gardening and being a mom, grandma, great grandma, great great grandma, sister and friend. Muriel is survived by her children: Jeane (Dean) Cain of Urbana, Missouri, Jay (Sharon) McCubbin of Camdenton, Missouri, Jane (Darwin) Mast of State Center, Jeffrey (Lee) McCubbin of Forest City and Heidi (David) Swangel of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Grandchildren: Joel, Carmen, Mickey, Tammy, Camron, Rodney, Robin, Rene, Robin, Maxwell and Abigal. She had 18 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Brothers: Bill Burke Jr of Marshalltown, Gordon Burke of Marshalltown and Gaylen Burke of Liscomb and a special friends Clara Robinson and Lynn Mast. Muriel is preceded in death by her parents: William and Lillie Burke, grandson Shayne Mast, sister-in-law Claudia Burke and ex-husband Max McCubbin.
